What Happened to M&S Wedding Insurance?
You may be asking yourself this very question.
Back in the day – well not too long ago actually – Marks and Spencer (M&S) had one of the most popular wedding insurance programs going. Cover was available from just £59, and the program was well regarded by former-brides and insurers alike.
Now it seems the program has disappeared and there seems to be no word from Marks and Spencer as to why this is. According to the Money Saving Expert Forums, Marks and Spencer withdrew the program during August 2010.
Looking at the M&S website, it seems that “M&S Wedding Insurance is no longer on sale”. It also advises existing cutomers with policy queries to call them with any questions regarding this.
So what should you do now?
Thankfully there are plenty of other insurance companies offering wedding cover. In fact, we’ve made a list of them in our wedding insurance guide. In this guide we’ve put full details of what to look for in a policy, some frequently asked questions and, most importantly, a comparison table of all the available UK policies.
So, no shortage of policies to choose from. In fact, the policies which are still available are generally cheaper than M&S was and offer the same – if not better – level of coverage.
Of course, if you really did want an M&S policy – after all it’s not just any wedding insurance policy, it’s an M&S wedding insurance policy – then you’ll be interested to known that their wedding insurance was underwritten by Ecclesiastical Insurance.
Ecclesiastical are still offering cover. In fact, we wrote about them in our guide. They are usually well-reviewed and liked by our readers, and definitely worth considering when searching for the right cover policy.Of course, they are just one of several insurers, as mentioned before, so before to shop around before making any final decisions.
Finally, even though M&S have scrapped their wedding cover, it looks like it’s still possible to take out other insurance policies such as travel and car (although it looks like life insurance has gone the way of the dodo as well).
Happy comparing and if you have any more updates on M&S’ wedding cover, be sure to share it below.
